Farm City Reading Circle
Farm City Reading Circle is a semi-private group dedicated to discussing books related to sustainable food with a focus on urban agriculture.
For most of our meetings, we will be hosted in a private upstairs room at 61 Local Public House located at 61 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201 on the Last Tuesdays of every month, starting with Tuesday, February 22, 2010.
This Book Club is a joint project of Derek Denckla of Farm City and Brooklyn Food Coalition (BOCOCA Neighborhood Group) and Daniel Bowman Simon of WHOFarm and People’sGardenNYC.
The Book Club is “semi-private” because anyone can apply to join and form a split off group, meeting on the same day and joining all together for bigger book events with speakers. Each small group will be limited to 20 or so people.
We don’t expect everyone to attend every meeting, so we anticipate that our actual discussion will settle around 10-12.
If you are interested in joining us for the first meeting of the Book Club (and we’ll see how it goes), please let me know. derek at farmcity dot us
